The June Pawlice Report 🐾

This month SPD's intern, Lucero, and Officer Strzyzewski joined me in hanging out with 3-week-old kittens! 🐈😻🐈‍⬛

Kitten season typically runs from March through October, with the busiest months usually being May and June. Nationally, around 1.5 million kittens enter shelters each year, and about 50% are under 8 weeks old. At HSSC, this creates a constant need for foster homes, supplies, and community support.

A big part of kitten season is neonatal care. Many of the kittens who come to HSSC need intensive support, including bottle feeding every 2–3 hours, heating support, and close monitoring. Just $21 provides one neonatal kitten kit, which includes essentials like formula, a heating pad, playpen, litter, and bottles. When entire litters arrive, those costs multiply quickly.

At AdoptSheboyganCounty.org, you can find resources on what to do if you find kittens. In many cases, the best place for kittens is with their mother, so please check the Humane Society's kitten guide, flowchart, and development chart before bringing kittens in.

Ways the community can help include:

Foster: HSSC needs foster homes for all stages of kittens.
Donate: Kitten supplies are always needed during this busy season.
Share: Spreading the word helps save lives.

They also have two kitten-focused events coming up this month:

Kitten Shower
Friday, June 20, 2026
12:30 PM – 3:00 PM
HSSC Community Room & Shelter Campus
https://adoptsheboygancounty.org/event/kitten-shower-2026/

This family-friendly event will include a donation drive, bake sale treats, cotton candy, raffles, prizes, games, foster information, volunteer opportunities, a photo booth, activities for all ages, adoptable cats, and kitten season education.

Kitten Yoga
Friday, June 27, 2026
HSSC Community Room
https://adoptsheboygancounty.org/event/kitten-yoga/

Tickets: https://myschs.app.neoncrm.com/nx/portal/neonevents/events?path=%2Fportal%2Fevents%2F47013

This event includes all-levels yoga sessions surrounded by playful, adoptable kittens, plus a Kitten Social Hour between sessions. Spots are limited, and proceeds directly benefit the animals in their care. You might see me at one or both of these events. 😉

Not my typical post!

Last friday myself and three other coworkers bought tickets and attended the Humane Society of Sheboygan County’s Fur-ever after 2026 Gala!

Myself and NBO Fickett won three of the silent auction prizes 😻

Just our small group of five contributed over one thousand dollars with the cost of tickets and auction costs! This event was beautiful and we were happy to support such a wonderful resource for our community ❤️🐶🐱

🐾The Pawlice Report with Officer Meyer

May is National Chip Your Pet Month—and it could make all the difference in bringing your pet home 🐾💙

Every year, 10 million pets are lost in the U.S. But microchipped pets are far more likely to be reunited with their families—dogs are 3x more likely, and cats over 20x more likely.

A microchip is a tiny device (about the size of a grain of rice) placed just under your pet’s skin. It acts as a permanent form of ID that can’t fall off or be removed—giving your pet the best chance of finding their way back to you.

✨ Quick. Safe. Lifelong protection. ✨

HSSC offers microchipping for just $35 (by appointment only).

📞 Call to schedule: 920-458-2012

Already chipped? Make sure your contact info is up to date!

Officer’s Pick: Pet of the Month 🚨

We’re proud to continue this special feature with the Sheboygan Police Department—highlighting animals who need a second look and a real chance at a home.

This month, Sgt. Kegler chose… MR. SMILES.

That’s right—Mr. Smiles is STILL HERE. And he needs out.
Mr. Smiles came to us as a stray, and while he’s full of life and love, the shelter environment is wearing on him—but the second he’s outside? It’s a completely different dog.

Running, playing, soaking up freedom… and yes—that BIG smile comes right back. 💛

He’s a young, energetic, people-loving pup who thrives on attention and is super treat-motivated (hello, training potential!). Because of his excitement, he’d do best with older kids who can match his energy. He’s still working on his manners with other dogs, so for now, he’d prefer to be your one and only.

✨ Mr. Smiles is also sponsored at 50% OFF his adoption fee! ✨
Right now, more than anything, Mr. Smiles needs a break from the shelter. Even a short-term foster could make a life-changing difference.

Think you could be the one to help Mr. Smiles decompress and shine again?

Happy Sunday! ☀️

I’ve officially got a new south side partner, NBO Fickett! We kicked off our first day together by hanging out with the community!

Yesterday we spent the day helping at Kindred Heart Families, Inc’s rummage sale fundraiser, and it was incredible to be part of it. Kindred Heart supports foster families, adoptive families, and relative placements, SUCH an important resource.

I helped with food sales, hauled thousands of items down to the gym (seriously 😅), and spent time baking for the bake sale too.

Huge shoutout to Mary, who runs Kindred. She put in an unbelievable amount of work to make this happen.

Grateful to be part of something like this and excited to continue working with Kindred in the future! 🥰

So much fun, come see us tomorrow!
