All severe weather hazards are possible, including damaging wind gusts, large hail, and even a possible tornado. Stay alert and keep an eye on weather updates.

In the last few weeks we have seen an increase is scams occurring in the city. The scammers are contacting victims by phone, email, and text messages. These scams range from romance scams, computer issues, impersonating a police officer claiming the victim has a warrant, and jury duty violations. If someone contacts you claiming there is a warrant for your arrest or you have computer issues, DO NOT GIVE THEM ACCESS TO YOUR COMPUTER OR SEND ANY MONEY!!!

A law enforcement agency will never ask you to send money...especially BITCOIN or GIFTCARDS. Please notify the SLPD with any suspicious calls, text or emails related to any of these issues. The best policy is to hang-up and delete. These scammers will threaten you and warn you not to tell anyone about these calls. Ignore them, hang-up and contact the police.

Please pass this information on to anyone you know, especially if you know someone that can be vulnerable to these types of scams.

* WHEN...Until 8 PM EDT this evening.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

🎣 COPS & BOBBERS COMMUNITY FISHING EVENT 🎣

Join the City of Sheffield Lake, Sheffield Lake Police Department, Lorain County Sheriff's Office, and Lorain County Metro Parks Rangers for a fun-filled day on the Lake Erie shoreline!

📅 Saturday, June 6
⏰ 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM
📍 Behind the Sheffield Lake Community Center
👦🧒 For youth ages 6–14
⚠️ Registration Required – Limited to the first 25 children

Kids will have the opportunity to fish alongside local officers while enjoying hands-on outdoor activities and learning experiences.

🎣 Activities Include:
• Bait Demonstration Table
• Touch & Learn Fishing Equipment Station
• Casting Station
• Child ID Station
• DARE Car (weather permitting)
• K-9 Unit (if available)
• Frosty 5-0 will be there!
• Lorain County Metro Parks Rangers on site

Even if the fish aren’t biting, there will still be plenty of fun, learning, and interaction throughout the event!
