Our department is deeply mourning the loss of long time firefighter, Rodney Redigar.

Rodney dedicated 38 years to serving the community of Buda, and his service will be greatly missed.

Situations like the storms weโ€™ve encountered this week are why we say you need to have your own emergency plans and supplies at the ready. When emergencies happen, community lifelines are severed, resources become scarce, and response times increase - especially in rural areas like ours that are mainly served by volunteer fire and ambulance services. Day to day life gives way to emergency response and recovery operations. Sometimes this lasts for days, weeks, or longer.

Thatโ€™s why you need to be self-sufficient for a minimum of three days. This may sound impossible, but if you begin today and take small steps daily (using the checklist shared in this post), youโ€™ll be prepared in no time.

Donโ€™t be scared - get prepared! Weโ€™re here to help. Visit www.ready.gov or www.readybureau.com for more information.

**ATTENTION SHEFFIELD RESIDENTS**

Ameren will be taking an emergency maintenance outage for storm restoration repairs that will impact the entire community of Sheffield, IL. The outage will begin between 10am and 12pm today (4/19/26), and is estimated to take 8-10 hours. There will be 533 customers impacted.

Residents with power-dependent medical devices can contact Sheffield Rescue at (815) 878-7983 for assistance.

Monitor this page for further updates.

(Edit - while our agency is in contact with Ameren and is sharing the information they provide, we have no say in how they conduct storm restoration operations. Our role is to support the Village in the event their resources become overwhelmed. We do have plans in place for that and have been in contact with Village officials since Ameren sent their notice out this morning.)**
