⚠️ The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Cold Warning on Jan 22 for Southern Berkshire County.
..EXTREME COLD WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 7 PM FRIDAY TO 1 PM EST
SATURDAY...

* WHAT...Dangerously cold wind chills as low as 30 below expected.

* WHERE...In Massachusetts, Berkshire County. In New York, Eastern
Rensselaer, Northern Warren, Hamilton, Northern Fulton, Northern
Herkimer, and Southern Herkimer Counties. In Vermont, Bennington
and Western Windham Counties.

* WHEN...From 7 PM Friday to 1 PM EST Saturday.

* IMPACTS...The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 30 below zero
could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.
Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is
exposed to these temperatures. Using non-approved heating devices
in your home can lead to fires and carbon monoxide poisoning.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Dress in layers including a hat, face mask, and gloves if you must
go outside.

Keep pets indoors as much as possible.

Online Applications for Burn Permits are available at
http://www.bcburnpermits.com from January 15 - May 1st, 2025.
Permits are issued on the day of the burn only and are subject to rules and regulations available on the permitting website.
Contact the SFD Fire Chief with any questions at (413) 329-4748.

Please follow all posted rules and burn safely.
