Civics work is a pillar of an MTRS education. Our students are blazing trails important to them and that mean something to our community.

Meet Aurora, Paytan, and Zephyr! These amazing 10th graders at Mohawk Trail Regional School completed a Civic Action Project on food insecurity. They researched the issue, interviewed Mary Lyon Foundation staff, organized a fundraiser, and donated the money to Hilltown Churches Food Pantry in Ashfield. Here they are visiting Pat Thayer, President of the Food Pantry. Food insecurity is a real challenge in our community and we're so impressed by the work Zephyr, Aurora, and Paytan put into designing a project that has a positive impact. What an amazing opportunity to learn, give back, and develop skills to be change agents for the common good!

Supporting student leaders today helps shape stronger communities tomorrow. Three Mohawk Trail Regional School students recently attended the MA Association of Student Council’s State Conference—connecting with peers, exploring new ideas, and growing as leaders.

MTRS Student Council President Landon Clark shares how the experience strengthened his confidence and perspective as a student leader. With support from the Mary Lyon Foundation, opportunities like this help students bring fresh ideas back to their schools and communities.
