"On August 15, 2026, Shelburne Emergency Communications Technicians Patricia Vincent and Angela Allen demonstrated exceptional professionalism, composure, and teamwork while handling a 911 call involving a water rescue.
Patricia and Angela quickly gathered critical information, coordinated the response, and dispatched several emergency service agencies to the scene. Throughout the incident, they remained calm and focused while helping ensure responders received the information and resources they needed.
Their outstanding work did not go unnoticed. Charlotte Fire & Rescue recognized Patricia and Angela with a Letter of Commendation for their efforts and their important role in the successful response.
As noted in the Letter of Commendation:
“The rapid response, effective interdepartmental communication, and coordinated actions of all responding personnel resulted in the safe recovery of both kayakers.”
Emergency Communications Technicians are often the first point of contact during an emergency and remain behind the scenes as an incident unfolds. Their ability to stay calm, communicate clearly, and coordinate multiple resources plays an essential role in supporting both the public and the emergency responders working in the field.
We are extremely proud of Patricia and Angela and grateful to Charlotte Fire & Rescue for taking the time to recognize their outstanding work.
Congratulations, Patricia and Angela, and thank you for representing the Shelburne Communications Center with professionalism, dedication, and excellence!
Best,
Josh Flore
