Today was the best first day of Summer Fun Fridays for our elementary kiddos! They started their day with muffins and fruit, did yoga with Mrs. Stacie, made an agreement for how they would treat each other this summer, did some math and reading, brainstormed for an end-of-summer talent show, and then headed off to Shelby City Parks for a picnic lunch and birthday cupcakes, tie-dying for field trip shirts, and riding the train before finishing up at the Cleveland County Library System. There were so many smiles and hugs and new experiences, and we are so excited to watch them grow this summer!!! A special thanks to Mrs. Edwards and Mrs. Cummings for making their day super fun and keeping them safe. ☀️

We are so proud of our Shelby High School-Home of the Golden Lions seniors! We were able to catch up with a few of them in the midst of all the excitement. If we told you some of their stories and struggles, you would be extra proud of them, too. 💫 🦁 🖤

That's why Communities In Schools of Cleveland County connects students with the essential resources they need to show up to school prepared and ready to learn. This support isn't just about succeeding in the classroom; it's also about succeeding in life!

When students have the supports they need to thrive inside the classroom, they're better equipped to do so outside the classroom, too. Just three years of CIS exposure and support produces:

⬆️+5.2% increase in high school graduation rate
💲+$75,000 increase in lifetime earnings
💰+$7,100 additional tax revenue (after an investment of only ~$3,000 per student)

We celebrate this reality as we celebrate the success of our 2026 graduates! We're so proud of their hard work and dedication.
