Did you know today is National Stretching day ! Here's why that's cool:
Pain Relief: It desensitizes sensory nerves, making them send fewer "complaint" signals to your brain, so you feel less stiff.
Calming Effect: Activating the parasympathetic nervous system promotes relaxation and endorphin release, which is why it feels so good!.
Better Movement: It increases blood flow, delivering nutrients and oxygen to muscles, and helps clear waste, supporting overall mobility and performance.
Instinctive Need: The body needs movement; lack of stretching causes muscles to tighten and joints to become stiff. Stretching can improve flexibility and mobility, which helps with both physical performance and daily activities. However, stretching before exercise does not necessarily prevent injury, and a warm-up should focus on getting your heart rate up with activities like jogging or jumping jacks. Daily stretching is more beneficial than sporadic sessions, and static stretching is best done after a workout to reduce muscle tension and promote relaxation
