We want to say a special thank you to Mrs. Trina Shull, who is retiring after 43 years in education. She has been a teacher at Washington since 1998. We can't begin to list all the things she has done for our students, families and community. She had this mural completed this school year so we are placing a plaque there in her honor. Thank you, Mrs. Shull, and congratulations on your well-deserved retirement!

A huge THANK YOU to Nikki and Wayne King, Brittany Austin, Jeff Ledford, Ted and Christina Alexander, Scott Brown, and Cheryl Yates for supporting our third grade students after they worked so hard during EOG testing!

Because of your generosity, our students were rewarded with delicious Sunset Slush Italian Ice as well as popcorn and cotton candy from K&C Concessions. These special treats brought so much excitement and joy to our students after all of their hard work and dedication.

We are incredibly thankful for community members who support and encourage our students in such meaningful ways. Thank you for helping make this celebration so memorable for our third graders!

Our fifth grade teachers treated all of their students with a visit from an epic gaming truck today! This was to reward all of their hard work on their EOGs. They had a great time hanging out, playing video games, and even doing karaoke! How cool! We will miss all of these kiddos as they head onto the middle school next year, but they are forever a Washington dolphin!

Water day 2026 was a blast! This was our last PBIS behavior reward for the school year and it was such a joy to see so many students who had earned this special event!

Today we celebrate an incredible leader on National Principal Appreciation Day, Dr. Amy Jones!

Thank you for the countless ways you support our students, staff, and school community each and every day. Your leadership, dedication, and heart for this school do not go unnoticed. From the big decisions to the small moments, you consistently show up with positivity, strength, and a genuine commitment to helping everyone succeed.

We are so grateful for the way you lead with care, build relationships, and create a school where both students and staff feel valued and inspired.

Mrs. Blanton, our third grade lead teacher, continues to lead by example through her commitment to professional growth, as demonstrated by her participation in this conference. We are incredibly proud to have her as part of our team!

A group of elementary educators from Cleveland County Schools recently attended the North Carolina Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCCTM) Western Region Mini Conference, and it was an incredibly valuable experience.

The sessions were engaging and offered practical, ready to use strategies to strengthen math instruction, increase student engagement, and deepen understanding through problem solving and discussion. The teachers are excited to bring these ideas back to their classrooms to positively impact student learning.

We are grateful for educators who continue to grow their practice in order to help students reach their full potential.
