Shelby County Development Corporation is sharing the following information on behalf of the Purdue University W. Lafayette Extension office:

LOCATION: Purdue Extension Shelby County, 20 West Polk Street, Suite 201, Shelbyville, IN 46176

The next Market Ready all-day program is scheduled on May 14, 2026 in Shelbyville, Indiana. Registration is open. The cost is $50 per person (lunch is included). Registration is limited to the first 22 participants. Thank you to our partners through the Indiana Grown program. To learn more about the potential to have your fee waived, please contact Sarah ([email protected]).

Market Ready is a nationally recognized Extension program to help local food/farm entrepreneurs prepare to sell into wholesale market channels (schools, restaurants, distributors, grocery stores, etc.). The workshop will focus on practical business topics such as product readiness, food safety considerations, insurance, and understanding buyer expectations. The training includes a panel of buyers for Q & A.

The Indiana State Department of Agriculture is sponsoring the event. Contact Sarah Hanson, Purdue Extension Food Systems Coordinator, to learn more about a registration discount for eligible applicants (local food/farm businesses currently pursuing or having the intent to expand into wholesale markets). A discount code and registration link will be provided for eligible applicants.

Shelby County residents have expressed strong interest in learning more about a potential development concept referred to as Project Hackman.

Prologis will be hosting a community information meeting where residents can hear directly from the developer and ask questions about the concept they are exploring.

This community information meeting is hosted and organized by the developer, and is intended to provide an opportunity for the community to learn more about the project and ask questions directly.
