Today, members of the Shelbyville Fire Department - Indiana went door to door at the New Park Condos, delivering Fire Safety Resource Bags as part of Fire Prevention Month.

Our team took time to talk with residents who were home and left resource packets for those who weren’tβ€”because prevention starts with preparation.

A big thank you to Steve Drake for organizing this proactive outreach and to our firefighters for taking the extra step to build relationships and protect our community before an emergency ever happens.

🚨 Fall Prevention Awareness 🚨

So far this year, Shelbyville Fire Department crews have responded to over 300 lift-assist calls β€” helping residents who have fallen and were unable to get up, but thankfully not injured.

While we’re always here to help, many of these falls can be prevented with a few simple steps:
🍁 Keep walkways clear of clutter and cords
🍁 Use sturdy, non-slip shoes
🍁 Install grab bars in bathrooms and railings on stairs
🍁 Ensure good lighting throughout your home
🍁 Stay active to maintain balance and strength

Falls are one of the most common 911 calls we respond to β€” let’s work together to reduce them! πŸ’ͺ

If you or a loved one needs help making your home safer, resources are available. Contact us or your local health department for more information.
