Sandbags are available today during business hours 7:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m. for anyone that needs them at the City of Shelbyville Street Department located at 605 Hale Road. Limit 15 bags each.

The Shelby County Emergency Management Agency will have sandbags available for Shelby County residents at our office located at 1310 N. Michigan Road...there will be a limited supply of pre-filled bags (limit of 10 per person), but you will have the option of filling bags with sand (no limit). Office hours are 8 AM to 4 PM, Monday thru Friday.

Today, Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) will begin an intersection improvement project at State Road 9 and Colescott Street.

The project is expected to take approximately 18 days to complete. The intersection will remain OPEN to traffic throughout construction, but drivers should use caution and allow additional time when traveling through the work zone.

Improvements include:
• Widening the intersection radii to improve turning movements
• Adding a dedicated left-turn lane for northbound State Road 9 traffic turning onto Colescott Street

Please slow down, stay alert and watch for construction crews and changing traffic patterns while work is underway.
