🚨 NEW MISSOURI SCHOOL BUS LAW TAKES EFFECT FRIDAY 🚨

With kids back in school, there’s an important change you need to know about.

A new Missouri law taking effect August 28, 2026, increases penalties for drivers who illegally pass a stopped school bus.

Here’s what drivers need to know:

• First offense: $500–$1,000 fine, 5 points on your license and a 90-day license suspension

• Second offense within 5 years: $1,000–$2,000 fine, 5 points and a 90-day suspension

• Third or subsequent offense: $1,500–$3,000 fine, 5 points and a 180-day suspension

• If a child is injured: Penalties can increase to up to 4 years in prison and a $5,000 fine

• If a child suffers serious injury: Penalties can reach up to 7 years in prison and a $10,000 fine

With school buses back on Missouri roads, drivers should slow down, watch for flashing red lights and stop when required.

Take the extra few seconds. A child’s life is worth it.
