ICYMI: Yesterday morning members of the Illinois Freedom Caucus, with special guest Senator Paul Jacobs, met with the owner of Walker's Bluff Winery and held a press event at the facility. The goal of this event is simple - we MUST get serious about tax reform and operating costs in Illinois.

Property Taxes, Electric Bills, Insurance, you name it - it's all way too high in Illinois. We hope this beautiful facility is able to work with the local government to find a solution. However - we have a responsibility in Springfield to do our part as well.

The Democrats need to get serious about saving small businesses in Illinois.

Welch’s Working Group Is Already Losing Members:
First, Rep. Kelly Cassidy declined to participate.
Now, Rep. Gregg Johnson says he never agreed to serve and is “uncomfortable” participating in a group that includes members who have publicly defended Speaker Welch’s handling of sexual harassment complaints.
When a private working group created to address serious workplace culture and harassment concerns is already facing skepticism from members of its own caucus, perhaps it’s time to rethink the approach.
Illinoisans don’t need another private working group behind closed doors. They deserve transparency, accountability, and real reform.

Accountability Shouldn't Stop at the Speaker's Office
Governor Pritzker's refusal to hold Speaker Chris Welch accountable for his office's response to sexual harassment allegations involving former Representative Harry Benton sends the wrong message. Calling the situation "holes in the system" minimizes legitimate concerns about leadership, oversight, and accountability. Illinoisans deserve a government that protects victims, demands transparency, and holds everyone—including those in positions of power—to the same standard.

School Supply Tax Holiday August 7 through August 16, Illinois families can take advantage of the state's temporary sales tax reduction on qualifying school supplies, clothing, and footwear priced under $125.
This tax holiday is welcome news for parents, but Illinois families deserve tax relief year-round. I'll continue fighting for policies that make it easier to live, work, and raise a family in our state.
