families, here's an important immunization update from KDPH! Check out the full post below and stay informed about recommended childhood vaccines.

Team Kentucky is committed to protecting the health and safety of all Kentuckians, including by promoting childhood vaccines, which help protect every child’s chance to grow up healthy.

No changes have been made to Kentucky’s vaccine requirements for children to attend school or daycare, and childhood vaccines continue to be covered by insurance in accordance with state and federal law. Medical and religious exemptions are still allowed.
Decades of research show that routine childhood vaccines are safe and effective when given according to the American Academy of Pediatrics’ recommendations. There is no new evidence to support changing the recommended immunization schedule for children.

The Kentucky Department for Public Health encourages families to talk with their pediatrician or other trusted health care provider about recommended vaccines and how best to protect their children and loved ones.

More information is available at: www.chfs.ky.gov/agencies/dph/dehp/Pages/immunization.aspx.

Headed outdoors? Don't forget to protect yourself from ticks! A few simple steps can help reduce your risk of tick bites and illnesses like Lyme disease and alpha-gal syndrome.
- Use an insect repellent with DEET or picaridin
- Wear light-colored clothing and tuck your pants into your socks
- Stay on the center of trails and avoid tall grass
- Check yourself, your children, and your pets for ticks after being outside
- Shower soon after coming indoors

If you find a tick, remove it as soon as possible and keep an eye out for symptoms like a rash or fever. Stay safe and enjoy the outdoors!
