Governor Beshear extended the gas tax cut for 33 counties to help Kentucky families who are struggling with war-fueled price hikes.

Local leaders in those communities requested an extension, which means their residents will continue saving 10 cents per gallon on gas. Unfortunately, some local officials chose not to request an extension and will see their prices go up by 10 cents per gallon starting Thursday. (Shelby County did not apply for the extension).

Republican Representative John Blanton actually went in front of local officials and urged them to reject the gas tax cut. They would rather you pay more at the pump than let a Democrat help you.

According to AAA, gas prices vary across Kentucky but generally hover around $4 per gallon.
