Sheldon Firefighters were assisted by Franklin, Enosburgh and Highgate firefighters in controlling and extinguishing a 23.88 acre brush fire off the Gilman Rd. Monday 4/27/26. Sheldon Fire was dispatched at 5:06 PM and quickly realized it was a substantial size fire requiring additional personnel and equipment. A portion of the burned area had undergone a logging operation and a large amount of slash was resulting in 8 foot high flames. Firefighting UTV’s were able to access the fire area and control fire spread within about 1 hour. The approximately 50 Firefighters on scene over hauled the area and returned equipment to service by 11:00 PM. Enosburgh Ambulance provided on scene EMS coverage for Firefighters. Chief Piaseczny wanted to thank everyone for a great job and the gracious support from Jenessa and Sam Gervais from Franklin for food and beverage. Appreciated by all.
