Water Advisory Committee
recommends:

• Use water sparingly and do not waste it
• Use a (electric) leaf blower to clean your driveway
• Use a car wash which recycles its water
• Check your appliances (especially toilets & faucets) for leaks
• Limit drip irrigation to 3 cycles per week at 20 minutes per cycle
• Avoid prolonged pumping of your well
• Use sprinklers for irrigation only between 4 pm and 10 am
(Only 50% of the water from a sprinkler during the heat of the day reaches the plant root zone; if you want to irrigate with a sprinkler, go ahead…but not during the heat of the day!)

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this special celebration. It was an afternoon filled with patriotism, good food, laughter, music, and connections across generations.

We were thrilled to welcome students from Shelter Island School, whose patriotic songs brought joy and pride to all in attendance❤️🤍💙

From Deet & Tick Committee:
Lone Star ticks are most active in spring and summer. Always check yourself for ticks frequently while outdoors and once back inside, especially after being in wooded areas or areas with tall grass.

Lone star tick bites can trigger alpha-gal syndrome (AGS), also known as the red meat allergy. People with AGS can have an allergic reaction after eating red meat or other animal products like milk and gelatin. Symptoms include rash, abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting. Consult a healthcare provider if you think you may have AGS.
