Our cadets had their monthly training over engine operation and hydrant connections. This consist of
driving course, how to pump off the engine and putting together hydrant connections for in town fires. They had a little competition on who could connect the hydrant faster. Demarion and Zander connected the hydratant less than two minutes. Zander won by two seconds. These guys are doing great and learning quickly!

We are always looking for new cadets to join. If any high schoolers are curious about the program, they can reach out to any member or the two cadets!🔥🚒🧯

On this night, September 10, 2001 ... 24 years ago:

246 people went to sleep in preparation for their morning flights.

2,606 people went to sleep in preparation for work in the morning.

343 firefighters went to sleep in preparation for their morning shift.

60 police officers went to sleep in preparation for morning patrol.

8 paramedics went to sleep in preparation for the morning shift.

None of them saw past 11:00am Sept 11, 2001.

In one single moment life may never be the same. As you live and enjoy the breaths you take today and tonight before you go to sleep in preparation for your life tomorrow, kiss the ones you love, snuggle a little tighter, and never take one second of your life for granted.

Never forget.

Wood River Rescue is hosting and EMT class at the fire station. Classes meet on Wednesday night and will be taught by WRFD paramedics Brian Urbom and Nick Lammers. Registration and CPR class starts September 3rd. Classes will be every Wednesday through mid December along with another 5 classes to be determined. This a great opportunity for anyone interested in learning how to handle medical emergencies. As long as you’re 16 years old or older, you qualify. Contact any WRFD member for more information.

Tonight we did some force able entry and played some jenga with our spreaders. Everyone had a blast!

We mourn the tragic loss of two brave souls -John Morrison, 52, a battalion chief with Coeur d’Alene Fire, and Frank Harwood, 42, a battalion chief with Kootenai County Fire-who were senselessly killed in an ambush while responding to a brush fire. These men answered the call to serve, even in the face of danger. May they rest in peace. My prayers are with their families, their departments, and all who are grieving this unimaginable loss.

Had some training this evening with our pool staff. Keeping up to date on trainings and practices are always fun when it involves some of the younger generations. Thanks for asking us to come!
