Mason Conservation District Mason Conservation District is an independent, non-regulatory public agency that assists landowners The District is funded through a variety of funding sources.

Surrounded by the Olympic National Forest and the Puget Sound, Mason County is rich in natural resources. Famous for our oysters, clams, Christmas trees, and timber exports, residents of this area depend on the management of our local resources. The Mason Conservation District assists residents of Mason County by providing a link between landowners, industry, and government agencies. We also provi

de technical and financial assistance to residents willing to implement conservation Best Management Practices. The District has thirteen staff members with diverse backgrounds and expertise. Staff members include: Natural Resource Specialists, Lead Entity Coordinator, Small Farms Extension Educator, Landscape Designer, Education/Outreach Specialists, Environmental Specialists, and a District Engineering Team. Most District services are available to Mason County residents at no cost, including technical assistance.

We are now accepting applications for our Community Agriculture Coordinator AmeriCorps service position!

This is a 10.5-month position, beginning September 16 of this year. The member will maintain community garden spaces, lead food security outreach and workshops, coordinate gleaning programs, and assist with distribution to food banks. Spanish language skills are strongly preferred.

Benefits include a $2,438 monthly stipend, $7,395 education award upon completion of term, health coverage, student loan forbearance, childcare assistance, and various training opportunities.

The last of our Wildfire Ready Dumpster Days with West Mason Fire - WA and Washington State Department of Natural Resources is this Saturday, June 6!

Free disposal of wildfire fuels from around your home will be at Skokomish Grange (2320 W Skokomish Valley Rd). This includes grass clippings, brush, leaves, weeds, small branches, and more. Contact West Mason Fire with questions.

Our June Garden Workshops are this Thursday and Friday!

A Polyculture & Pest Identification Workshop will be hosted at Civic Center Community Garden from 11-12 on Thursday, June 4, and a Polyculture & Seedlings Workshop at Callanan Park Community Garden from 11-12:30 on Friday, June 5.

Come meet the members of the Shelton garden community, learn from experts, and help us take care of these community spaces.

Thank you to everyone who made it out to our Community Shellfish Dig on Saturday at Twanoh State Park! The nice weather and low tide made it a perfect day for digging. 🪣🌊

We have so much gratitude for Washington State Parks & Recreation Commission, Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife, Taylor Shellfish Farms, Hope Plaza/ Plaza Esperanza, The Salmon Center, Mason County Public Health, and Mason Transit Authority who helped make this day possible!

Things are underway with the Mason County Food Coalition as members recently gathered to introduce themselves, discuss community needs, and explore ways to support one another while strengthening our local food system. The coalition's first newsletter is anticipated to launch on June 4.

Our Guided Shellfish Dig is this Saturday, May 30, from 10-2 at Twanoh State Park!

Come learn about shoreline stewardship and how to safely dig for shellfish. No shellfish license is needed for Mason County residents, but RSVP is required. Register online at masoncd.org/events.

Free shuttle service from Shelton will be provided by Mason Transit Authority, and Spanish translation service will be provided by Hope Plaza/ Plaza Esperanza.
