Did you know that graphic novels are great for promoting reading for pleasure? Like traditional novels, graphic novels are high-quality reading materials with complex plots and vocabulary.

๐Ÿ“ขIt's the first of the month which means that the Tween Graphic Novel for this month is ready for pickup! September's book is ๐‘ป๐’‰๐’† ๐‘ญ๐’Š๐’“๐’”๐’• ๐‘ช๐’‚๐’• ๐’Š๐’ ๐‘บ๐’‘๐’‚๐’„๐’† ๐‘จ๐’•๐’† ๐‘ท๐’Š๐’›๐’›๐’‚ by Mac Barnett and Shawn Harris. When extragalactic rats begin gnawing on Earth's moon, a heroic, pizza-craving, cybernetic cat blasts off a lunar mission to confront the Rat King.

Thanks to support by the Friends of the Shelton Timberland Library, the first 15 registrants will receive a free copy. All tweens are welcome to come and talk about the book and do an activity related to the graphic novel and come to the meeting on Wednesday, September 23 from 4-5PM.

โœOn Tuesday, kids can come and write together at ๐Š๐ข๐๐ฌ ๐–๐ซ๐ข๐ญ๐ž and folks of all ages are welcome at ๐’๐ก๐ž๐ฅ๐ญ๐จ๐ง ๐–๐ซ๐ข๐ญ๐ž๐ฌ.
๐Ÿ˜On Wednesday, middle and high schoolers can come to the teen area for ๐“๐ž๐ž๐ง ๐‡๐š๐ง๐ ๐จ๐ฎ๐ญ.
๐ŸพOn Thursday, ๐ƒ๐จ๐  ๐“๐š๐ฅ๐ž๐ฌ moves back to its original time of 4-5PM.

๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿซ It's almost time for many children to head back to school. Improv can help foster communication skills, respect, and cooperative problem-solving in and outside the classroom in a fun way.

At ๐ˆ๐ง๐ญ๐ซ๐จ ๐ญ๐จ ๐ˆ๐ฆ๐ฉ๐ซ๐จ๐ฏ ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ซ ๐Š๐ข๐๐ฌ tomorrow at 11AM, kids will learn basic improvisational skills through presentation and practice with guidance from instructor Areya Kugler. Kugler has years of theater experience on the stage and behind the scenes!
