Today is the last day to support Spooner House with your purchase of a Bloomin' 4 Good bouquet from Stop & Shop in Shelton, CT. Whether you want to brighten your day or someone else's, you're sure to brighten ours!

We are thrilled to be selected as the nonprofit partner in the Stop & Shop Bloomin' 4 Good program for the month of May at the Shelton location! Brighten someone's day - it could even be your own! - by heading over to Stop & Shop, 898 Bridgeport Avenue, Shelton, and picking up a specially marked Bloomin'4 Good bouquet. Spooner House receives $1 for each purchase this month.

National Junior Honor Society is committed to scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship. The members of the Seymour Middle School NJHS certainly demonstrated all of these qualities in collecting and organizing donations of needed items for our clients. Congratulations to these students and to their advisors, Jennifer and Trisha, whose belief in and encouragement of the NJHS members helps them reach their greatest heights!

We fell a little behind with posting this winter, but we truly appreciate the generous support of the students and families, faculty and administration of ST. MARY-ST. MICHAEL SCHOOL, DERBY, CT for their beautiful donation of Welcome Home baskets! These laundry baskets contain cleaning supplies and paper goods that are given to our clients when they leave shelter for their own homes. These supplies make it possible for them to move in to a clean apartment as they make a fresh start. Thank you, Toniann, for dropping everything off to us!

Wow! Greystar has truly outdone themselves, presenting Spooner House with a check for $26,498 in support of our services for those experiencing homelessness and food insecurity! Thank you, thank you, thank you to Danielle Burrows, Cathy Taylor, and Cristina Leone for your leadership and support!

Thank you to Newtown Savings Bank for sponsoring a shred event at their Bridgeport Avenue, Shelton branch to support our programs and to all of the wonderful community members who brought their documents to be shredded and made donations. We were so happy to see so many old friends and equally happy to meet so many new ones! We enjoyed chatting with everyone so much, that we forgot to take some pictures, so we're sharing this one from the last event. Thank you, Tisha and Melanie for being here again, and also to Joe and Rebekah and the rest of the NSB team, for all your help today!

The Derby-Shelton Rotary Club shows up for Spooner House and the community time and time again! Our belated but sincere gratitude for your donation of outreach program meals for our clients, and thank you Carolyn and Jeff for bringing everything right to our doors!

The need for food has never been greater, and it has never been easier to donate than to leave you unexpired nonperishable food donations by your mailbox. Your letter carrier will pick them up and deliver them to a local food pantry. Special thanks to the letter carriers in Shelton - and especially our professional and friendly letter carrier Jeremy - for going above and beyond to help our community on this very important day!

Need to safely dispose of your documents? Stop by Newtown Savings Bank at 815 Bridgeport Avenue in Shelton on Saturday morning, May 9th, between 9:00am and 12:00 noon and bring your papers to be shredded. Shredding is done immediately on site for security, and all proceeds (Suggested donation $10/box or $5/box for seniors) benefit Spooner House's programs for those experiencing homelessness and food insecurity.
