Life at WMFC takes many different paces. Sometimes it is best to slow down and relax with a friendly game of cards!

In order to provide all of the services and programs at WMFC safely for everyone, it takes a lot of work to keep our facilities in top notch working order!

Matt and Robert, our Maintenance Technicians, make sure everything stays working and safe around the Center and our off-sites. From changing the light bulbs to installing a new ramp for the Cottage, these guys do it all with smiles and a helping hand!

Our Trunk or Treat is coming up this Thursday, and we can’t wait to welcome families for an evening of costumes, candy, and community fun!

Events like this are about more than treats. They’re a chance to connect with neighbors, make memories, and enjoy time together as a community.

We hope to see you there!

Winn Community Preschool went to Anderson & Girls Farm on October 13th. It was a fun day filled with a wagon ride, apple picking, donuts & c***r. We fed goats and explored the farm to see all the other animals! Thank you Anderson & Girls Farm!

In Midland County, 37% of households are living below the ALICE Threshold, meaning families may be working and earning income, but still struggling to afford basic needs like housing, food, childcare, transportation, and healthcare. In some of the communities closest to WMFC, that number is even higher.

The truth is, financial hardship can happen to any of us. A job loss, medical bill, car repair, or unexpected expense can quickly change a family’s situation. That’s why strong communities matter.

At WMFC, we believe in neighbors supporting neighbors and making sure people have somewhere to turn when life gets difficult.

For 10 incredible years, Mr. Kevin, a dedicated Kiwanis Club member, has been volunteering his time each week to bring science to life for our preschoolers (and sometimes for older students, too)!

Through fun, hands-on experiments, Mr. Kevin sparks curiosity, encourages discovery, and inspires our youngest learners to explore the world around them.

❤️ Thank you, Mr. Kevin, for a decade of dedication! Your generosity, enthusiasm, and commitment have made a lasting difference in the lives of so many children!

👏 Help us celebrate Mr. Kevin and 10 wonderful years of inspiring little scientists!

What’s Happening at WMFC?

Our Playgroup gives little ones a chance to play, explore, and spend time with other children while parents and caregivers connect with one another.

It’s also a great opportunity to share ideas, build relationships, and connect families with helpful community resources. Sometimes a simple place to gather can make a big difference.

Meet Janae, our Childcare & Onsite Preschool Supervisor!

Janae has been part of the WMFC family for 15 years and has worn quite a few hats along the way. She began her childcare career here while attending Central Michigan University ("Fire Up, Chips!"), later became the Lead Preschool Teacher at our St. Louis location, and then spent two years in Family Services building relationships with families and supporting them in a new way.

Now, she’s excited to be back in childcare, leading our Childcare and Onsite Preschool programs!

Outside of work, Janae loves spending time with her husband, Josh, and their two boys, Cade and Crue. She’s also a book lover, Harry Potter enthusiast, iced coffee addict, CMU alum, and, in her words, “unfortunately, a dedicated Detroit Lions fan.”

One of Janae’s favorite things about WMFC is the sense of community. She loves seeing how people come together, care for one another, and support local families.

We’re so glad Janae has chosen to grow right alongside WMFC for the past 15 years!

Behind the Scenes at WMFC!

A big thank you to the volunteers from Isabella Bank who helped us move our food pantry to the Food and Clothing Depot!

As part of the Midland County Food Assistance Network, our pantry provides an important resource for local families. Moving it to the Depot brings food assistance closer to other supports we offer, helping reduce barriers and making it easier for people to access multiple resources in one place.

We’re grateful for community partners who roll up their sleeves and help us make support more accessible for our neighbors!
