Starting June 1, I-65 will fully close between I-264 (Watterson Expressway) and downtown Louisville (Jefferson Street) while crews demolish and begin rebuilding part of the new deck and superstructure of three key bridges.

🚧 During the closure, traffic will be detoured west to I‑264 (Georgia Davis Powers Expressway).

🚧 TRAFFIC ADVISORY: KY 1526 (Bells Mill Road) Bridge Over Floyds Fork to Reopen Friday, May 22 🚧

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists that the KY 1526 (Bells Mill Road) bridge in Bullitt County is now scheduled to reopen on Friday, May 22.

The bridge over Floyds Fork has been closed to traffic since late November 2025 to allow for the replacement of its superstructure. While the bridge was originally expected to reopen on Thursday, May 14, the date has been adjusted to help reduce the need for additional lane closures and traffic restrictions during final project work, including guardrail enhancements and shouldering operations.

The KY 1526 (Bells Mill Road) bridge at mile point 14.35 over Floyds Fork will reopen on Friday, May 22, at 5 p.m.

Hall Contracting of Kentucky, Inc. is carrying out the work under a $2.5 million project.

A cold front will move into the region from the west later today. Ahead of the cold front, a line of showers and thunderstorms will move across the region. Strong to severe storms will be possible in areas west of I-65. The main threats will be heavy rainfall, damaging winds, and marginally severe hail.
