Daily high temperatures in the 90s are likely across southern Indiana and central Kentucky, with heat index values reaching the upper 90s to around 100 degrees. Precipitation chances will also remain fairly low through most of the week, which could lead to the re-emergence of dry conditions across the area.

Red Cross Blood Drive Results

Last Friday we hosted our regular blood drive. We had a fantastic turnout! 22 donations were made! This donation can help up to 66 people.

🚧 TRAFFIC ADVISORY: Speed Limit Reductions Coming to KY 44 in Bullitt County 🚧

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of speed limit reductions on KY 44 (Old Mill Road) on Thursday, Aug. 6, in Bullitt County.

On KY 44, the speed limit will be reduced from 55 mph to 45 mph beginning at Big Clifty Drive (mile point 15.10) and extending east to Fisher Lane (mile point 21.10).

Additionally, two school zones will be impacted by this change. On KY 44, the speed limit will be reduced during operational periods from 45 mph to 35 mph at Pleasant Grove Elementary near Bogard Lane (mile point 18.41) and extending east to just past the school entrance (mile point 18.77).

The speed limit will also be reduced during operational periods from 45 mph to 35 mph at Eastside Middle School, from Cherry Hill Parkway (mile point 19.00) to Azure Drive (mile point 19.29).

KYTC crews are scheduled to update the speed limit signs on Thursday, Aug. 6, by 10 a.m. Motorists should heed signage, use caution, and adhere to newly posted speed limits.

Traffic Advisory: Lane closure extended on 1526 (Brooks Hill Road) through Tuesday, August 4th.

KY 1526 (Brooks Hill Road) remains reduced to one lane between Holsclaw Hill Road and Brooks View Road, with the closure now expected to continue through Tuesday, Aug. 4.

Motorists will continue to be directed through the work zone using automated flagger assistance devices. The lane closure is necessary for KYTC crews to complete stabilization work on the hillside near mile point 9.68. Drivers should follow automated flagger assistance devices, reduce speeds, and use caution while traveling through the work zone.

Weather outlook for this weekend.

Showers and thunderstorms return to the region on Saturday with the possibility of some storms being strong to severe. Rain on Saturday could be heavy at times, possibly resulting in localized flooding.

Bullitt County falls in the slight risk, at least 15% probability of excessive rainfall leading to flash flooding.

🚧 Curbside Flood Debris Pickup Ending Today 🚧

Today is the final day for contracted curbside flood debris pickup operations in Bullitt County.

Crews are completing their pre-determined final pickups, and once those pickups are complete, the debris collection contractors will begin demobilizing from the area.

No additional curbside flood debris pickup will occur after crews complete their final scheduled collections.

🚨 Bullitt County Weather Update – Tuesday, July 21

Bullitt County and surrounding areas should prepare for strong to severe thunderstorms beginning around noon and continuing through the afternoon and early evening. While the greatest severe weather risk is just east of Bullitt County, our area remains under a Level 2 (Slight Risk), and everyone should stay weather-aware.

Expected hazards include:
🌬️ Damaging winds up to 70 mph
🌪️ Isolated tornadoes
🧊 Hail up to 1–2 inches in size
🌧️ Heavy rainfall with localized flash flooding

Please secure outdoor items, charge your phones, and have multiple ways to receive weather warnings. If a warning is issued for your location, seek shelter immediately. Never drive through flooded roadways.
