Bullitt County Fiscal Court Meeting Recap
Tuesday, October 6, 2026
The Bullitt County Fiscal Court met today to discuss several important items affecting our county and its residents.
🚒 Bullitt County Special Teams
Adam Heath presented a request for a Paratech Raker Kit, specialized equipment that would assist rescuers in searching and stabilizing fallen buildings. The equipment costs approximately $110,000. The County has applied for a grant to cover the cost and expects to learn the outcome in January.
🏥 County Employee Health Insurance
Scott Brown with Brown & Brown Insurance presented the county’s health insurance plan. While premiums have increased, the County will cover the increase so employees will not see an increase in their cost.
🏘️ Zoning
• First reading and public hearing were held for Zoning Ordinance 26-26 – Rodney Lacer.
• First reading and public hearing were held for Zoning Ordinance 26-27 – Fontana Enterprises LLC.
Both zoning changes are unopposed.
🚨 New Private Roads Added for 911 Services
The Court approved adding Fastenal Way, Troutmans Way and Taylor Trail to the county’s road records to help ensure these new private roads are included in the 911 system.
🏠 295 N. Buckman Street Property
The Court accepted a contract to auction the property located at 295 N. Buckman Street. The property will be sold through an online auction in November 2026, with advertising fees capped at $4,000.
📋 Planning & Zoning Procedures
Charlie Spaulding presented alternative options for how zoning cases could be presented during Fiscal Court meetings. While the County could present only opposed cases to save time and money, the magistrates expressed their desire to continue presenting all zoning cases so residents have the opportunity to be informed and speak on matters before the Court.
💧 Resolution 26-14 – Kentucky Infrastructure Authority Grant
The Court approved accepting and approving a grant from the Kentucky Infrastructure Authority for MSD expansion in the Hillview area. This project is expected to provide significant benefits to the hospital and surrounding community.
🏢 Spencer County Detention Agreement
The Court approved an agreement with the Spencer County Fiscal Court and Spencer County Jailer to house inmates from Spencer County. Because Spencer County does not have its own detention center, Bullitt County will house inmates and receive payment from the state.
🛣️ 2026–2027 Rural Secondary Paving Recommendations
The Court approved Resolution 26-15, concurring with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s 2026–2027 Rural Secondary Paving recommendations for Bullitt County. The recommendations were presented at the September 15 meeting, and the County agreed to all proposed projects.
