We recognize that the weather for tomorrow's parade is forecasted to be less than ideal.

The Sherburne Fire Department, in conjunction with the Chenango County Office of Emergency Services, the US National Weather Service Binghamton NY, and the Sherburne-Earlville Central School District will monitor the weather closely for any dangerous weather conditions. The parade WILL occur in light to moderate rain but will be canceled or delayed for storms, including lightning and high winds.

Ultimately, we will do everything we can to run the event tomorrow, as there is no rain date.

Any updates will be posted to our page and broadcast to the band directors.

Norwich Tractor is another repeat corporate sponsor for the 77th Sherburne Pageant of Bands. Each year, Norwich Tractor loans the Fire Department a tractor and a side-by-side for use during the parade. Be on the lookout for their shiny Kubota towing the trophy float at the beginning of the parade on Saturday!

One week to go! The 77th Annual Sherburne Pageant of Bands is 7 days away. The Sherburne Fire Department has sponsored our community's largest event since its inception. The Sherburne Fire Department will be selling chicken at the Sherburne Fire Department the morning of the Pageant of Bands. This is a change from recent practice and will offer local patrons an opportunity to purchase chicken without battling the congestion around the Sherburne Earlville Campus. Sales at the fire station will be chicken only; the department will continue to vend chicken dinners, hamburgers, hot dogs, and more at the Sherburne Earlville Bus Garage.

Like all first responders, the members of the Sherburne Fire Department interact with the community during some of our citizens’ worst days. The reward for the firefighters and EMTs is the accomplishment of helping others, the satisfaction of being the solution to someone’s tragedy. Additionally, every so often, the reward is the people we help become part of our family.
In May of 2019, the Sherburne Fire Department was blessed to meet Marshall Sepello. Born with a rare heart condition, Marshall was no stranger to tragedy and challenge. He was also no stranger to grit and determination. After a fire in the garage at Marshall’s family home, the fire department, having met Marshall, was left inspired. Marshall expressed his interest in growing to become a firefighter, and the fire department chose to make that desire a reality. In June of 2019, Marshall was inducted as an honorary junior firefighter.

As the saying goes, the rest is history. Marshall, aka Marshall Man, went on to direct his own movie, had it premiere at the Landmark Theatre in Syracuse, and continued to break through so many medical predictions. Countless trips to Boston and Syracuse hospitals displayed Marshall’s incredible resilience. In his wake was a sea of people who fell in love with the red haired firecracker.

The bright light that was Marshall Man went dark on May 17th, 2026. With tears in our eyes, the Sherburne Fire Department will take the time to honor and remember our brother in service. The station flag has been lowered, and our team will gather in dress uniform to pay our respects to Marshall and his family. Please keep his mother, Rebecca Sepello, brothers Tristen, Seth, and Isaac, Step-Father (and SFD Assistant Captain) Dan Welc, and his father Michael in your thoughts and prayers.

As the NYS DEC Burn Ban has expired, we would like to urge the community to be cautious as they begin burning.

Mother Nature works at her own pace and the Spring green-up is still in progress.

Please take the appropriate precautions when burning.

-Avoid burning on windy days.

-Keep your fire less than 3 feet high and less than 4 feet wide.

-Keep flammable objects and debris at least 3 feet away from the fire.

-Never burn trash, including paper products, plastic, glass, and metal.

-Burn only dry, plain wood - no pressure-treated lumber or plywood, and no painted or stained wood.

-Never use fire accelerants such as kerosene, gasoline, or lighter fluid.

-Keep water or a fire extinguisher nearby.

-Never leave your fire unattended.

-When you're finished with your fire, fully extinguish it.

A little precaution can help avoid things getting out of control. We love to interact with our community, but prefer to do so in a non-emergency setting. 👨‍🚒
