Free Summer Meals for Children 18 and Under

Western Placer Unified School District is excited to offer free summer meal packages for children 18 and under through our Rural Non-Congregate Summer Meals Program in Sheridan.

Each week, participating children will receive a meal bag containing 7 breakfasts and 7 lunches (14 meals total) to help ensure they have access to nutritious meals throughout the summer. Meals will feature a variety of kid-friendly options, including fresh, locally sourced ingredients, organic ingredients whenever possible, and scratch-made menu items prepared by the WPUSD Nutrition Services team.

Who Can Participate?
All children 18 and under
No income requirements
Children do not need to attend a WPUSD school
Children do not need to live within WPUSD boundaries
Meal Distribution

Townview Court, Sheridan (cross street: Commercial Place)
Tuesdays, June 16 through August 4
7:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.

Weekly menus will be posted soon and shared with participating families.

Engineering Eagles!
Our Eagles love to design and build! Our families had a blast with our school STEAM event. Everyone had fun working together to complete the stations. They rose to the challenge to build, test, and improve upon their designs. Way to go Eagles!

At Sheridan Elementary, student success is being driven by a clear focus on academics, attendance, and a schoolwide commitment to "The Eagle Way"—Educate, Encourage, and Engage.

The numbers tell an incredible story of student growth at Sheridan Elementary this year!

📚 Reading Growth
✅ Students at or above grade level increased from 20% to 48%
✅ Students performing in the lowest achievement band decreased from 26% to 10%
✅ Growth was seen across every reading domain

🏫 Attendance Matters
✅ Chronic absenteeism has been reduced from 29.5% three years ago to 12.3% last year
✅ More students are in school, learning, and connected every day

These results are the product of dedicated staff, targeted interventions, strong family partnerships, and students who continue to rise to the challenge.

Thank you to all the families who helped with our One Day 100 Ways event. We accomplished so many acts of service and kindness. We put together food bags for our Sheridan neighbors and community. We made thank you posters for our school deputy. We made positive placemats for our senior citizens. And to top it off we built a new Ga Ga Ball arena on our playground. Go Eagles!

Exploring Eagles
It was all smiles and science for our 2nd through 5th graders. They attended the Lincoln High School Science Expo and were in awe of all the amazing science experiments. Our Eagles interacted with exhibits and were inspired by the science experiments.

Our Evening With Eagles (Open House) was a smashing success. We enjoyed delicious food while our Eagles dazzled us with their spring "informance" (our music teacher's term for informing what students learn in music class). Followed by classroom tours where students showed off their learning portfolios. Thank you to all the Proud Eagle Parents who came and celebrated all that their children do!

Eating With Eagles!
It was the perfect day for Eating With Eagles! We had great weather and families were able to enjoy a delicious lunch, outdoor games, Book Fair, and a special performance from our 2nd and 3rd graders.

We put the FUN in our Color Run! Our Eagles had a great time running while parents had a blast splashing students with slime. Thank you to our PTC and all the parent volunteers who made this event a success! And thank you everyone who donated to this fantastic fundraiser. Go Eagles!

The nursing students from William Jessup University came to visit our Eagles. Our students learned what germs are and how handwashing is one of the best ways to get rid of them. Students learned the steps to proper handwashing and that handwashing needs to happen for 30 whole seconds! A fun way for students to know how long to wash is by singing the "Happy Birthday" or "ABC" song.
