SYAP was so grateful to receive funding from the Indiana Youth Institute this year to host a day of training and wellness for our amazing SYAP tutors yesterday! Tutoring is often a commitment beyond their full time jobs, and it was great to have a day to encourage the minds, bodies and hearts of our amazing tutors. In 2025, our tutors worked with 140 Sheridan students!

Tomorrow’s weather forecast is calling for potentially severe storms, including the possibility of tornadoes. To help keep our community safe, Sheridan First Christian Church will be open as a storm shelter for anyone who needs a safe place to go.

We are located at 107 W 3rd Street. Please enter through the three blue doors of the Education Center and proceed to the basement.

Deadlines are coming up quickly!

The deadline to request assistance for school supplies is JUNE 10 to make sure supplies are ordered for your students!

The deadline to buy a school supply kit for your Sheridan student and see $1 go back to SYAP is June 15!

You can order school supply kits for your Sheridan Community Schools students now until June 15 at brightschoolkits.shop. For those who purchase a kit, $1 will go back to SYAP, and your student will have all the school list supplies delivered to their classroom or locker before the first day of school. So easy!

Families can also request financial assistance for school supplies thanks to our generous partners, including support from Hamilton County Community Foundation this year! Please apply at the link in the comments, and students can receive the same school supply kits from Bright School kits. The deadline to request assistance is JUNE 10.

Happy last day of school to all of our Sheridan Community Schools families! We hope it's been a great year!

While everyone is cleaning out lockers and classrooms, SYAP has been busy preparing for summer activities, including our summer food program. We have already received some some items from our friends and partners at Hamilton County Harvest Foodbank and Shepherd's Pantry in Westfield, and we couldn't be more thankful for them! And today we scored some very cute clearance lunch boxes. Woo hoo!

If you'd like to help, too, we have a couple of opportunities for you:

1. Visit the pack the cruiser event at the Westfield Kroger on Carey Rd. and SR 32 on Saturday, May 30 from 10-2, and donate requested food items or a Kroger gift card to Sheridan summer food programs.

2. Come volunteer with us! You can sign up to help as much or as little as you'd like this summer. Link with volunteer dates and options is in the comments.

We wanted to do a shout out to our friend Amy for being our lead volunteer for our Gleaners 2 Go pick ups this spring! She brought along some student friends from the FLIGHT after school program to help out at our April distribution. Thank you so much for helping!
