The Sheridan Fire Department had the pleasure of gifting this young boy a new “wee woo” toy. Several weeks ago, a fire truck toy was reported missing on Sheridan Chatter. With the help of Sparky The Fire Dog and Chief Stern, a new replacement was found and delivered to the family! Thank you for having us, we loved meeting you. We hope you enjoy! 🚒🐾

Week 5 of the Sheridan Fire Recruit class 001. The recruits spent the last two days training with live fire. Getting the opportunity to train with real heat and smoke helps the recruits simulate real world situations. Thank you to those who came to help with evolutions and training.

Weeks 3&4 of the Sheridan Fire Recruit Class 001. These last couple weeks the recruits have been working hard on hands on skills as well as classroom time. They focused on hose advancement, RIT scenarios, ladders, bailout tactics, and of course morning PT. You may see this group running around town with a flag as part of their morning PT. This flag is the symbol of their recruit class, they must take this flag everywhere they go.

Week 2 of the Sheridan Fire Recruit Class 001.
This week the recruits focused on multiple different skill types as well as classroom time. Cable box advancement, search, and hose loads are just a few of the skills recruits learned this week.
In the next few weeks, each recruit will be individually highlighted on our page! This gives the community a way to “meet the recruit”.

The purpose of recognizing mental health is to reduce stigma, educate the public, and support those with mental health conditions. Throughout this month you may see your Sheridan Firefighters in green “Extinguish the Stigma” shirts.

In the event of a fire, there is always an established Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) waiting outside. The purpose of a RIT is to be readily available in the event of an injured firefighter inside a structure. It’s important to train with the RIT bag and procedures that follow. Today’s Training on A Shift focused on these skills. If you’ve ever noticed the letters“RIT” on the side of a fire apparatus, that is an indicator of where the RIT bag is located.
