π¨ June 2026 Significant Wildland Fire Potential Outlook π¨
The latest outlook from Predictive Services shows above-normal significant wildfire potential across much of the Western United States and portions of the Great Lakes region during June.
Areas highlighted include large portions of:
π₯ California
π₯ Oregon
π₯ Washington
π₯ Nevada
π₯ Arizona
π₯ Utah
π₯ Idaho
π₯ Montana
π₯ Wyoming
π₯ Colorado
π₯ New Mexico
π₯ Minnesota
π₯ Wisconsin
π₯ Michigan
A combination of dry fuels, drought conditions, and warming temperatures is expected to contribute to increased fire activity across many of these regions as we move deeper into fire season.
While not every area highlighted will experience large fires, these locations have a greater-than-normal likelihood of seeing significant wildfire activity compared to a typical June.
As always, weather patterns can change quickly, and one widespread precipitation event can significantly alter fire potential in some areas. However, agencies across the West are already preparing for what could be a busy start to the summer fire season.
CTFB will continue providing wildfire updates, incident information, and fire weather coverage throughout the season.
