💡 Do you turn off the lights when you leave a room? Unplug devices when they’re not in use? Choose fresh air over AC when you can? Use natural sunlight instead of flipping a switch? SOEC Tigers do! 🐯🌎

Today, our Environmental Ambassadors and Greenification Team headed downtown to the Heroes for Zero Awards Ceremony to celebrate schools leading the way in energy conservation and sustainability.

🏆 We are thrilled to announce that SOEC earned 1st Place among all LAUSD elementary schools and was awarded $25,000 to invest in future sustainability projects on our campus!

This achievement belongs to our incredible students, Greenification Committee, families, staff, and partners in the Eco-Sustainability Office who prove every day that small actions add up to big change.

✨ Every light switched off. Every device unplugged. Every energy-saving choice matters. When a community comes together to reduce its footprint, the impact is powerful. Thank you for showing that environmental leadership has no age limit and that young people can create real change. Keep leading, keep inspiring, and keep being Heroes for Zero, SOEC! 💚⚡🌍

Today we proudly celebrate two incredible members of our school community, Mr. Jeffrey Harris, our amazing Plant Manager, and Mrs. Ana Herrera, our outstanding School Administrative Assistant, for being recognized as LAUSD Classified Heroes! 🌟

Their hard work, dedication, and unwavering commitment help keep our school running smoothly each and every day. From creating a safe and welcoming campus to supporting students, staff, and families with kindness and care, they truly go above and beyond.

Mr. Harris and Mrs. Herrera are the heart behind so much of what makes our school special, and we are beyond grateful for all they do. ❤️
