You may come across or hear about alarming “Cat in the Hat” social media posts circulating online.
Please be assured that there is no threat to Sherman ISD. Our schools remain safe and continue to operate normally.

We are sharing information proactively so that families and staff are aware of this trend and the real-world consequences that can come with making threatening statements online.

The “Cat in the Hat” trend involves editing videos that depict the “Cat in the Hat” appearing near a school or neighborhood and making threatening statements that target a specific location or group of people. A growing number of individuals nationwide have been arrested as part of this trend.

Students should be reminded that creating, editing or sharing these kinds of videos could lead to legal or disciplinary consequences.
As always, if you see something concerning online or at school, it should be reported to a trusted adult or campus administrator. Do not repost or share this type of content. Reports can also be made anonymously online through iWatchTexas: www.shermanisd.net/safety-report

🚲⚡ KNOW BEFORE YOU RIDE! ⚡🏍️

As we return to school for another great year, the Sherman ISD Police Department wants to help keep our students, families, and community safe—both on campus and on the road.

With e-bikes and electric motorcycles becoming more popular, it’s important to know the difference and know the law. Not every electric two-wheeled vehicle is considered a legal e-bike under Texas law. Some may be classified as motor vehicles and require registration, insurance, and the appropriate licensing.

📌 Parents and students: Please take a few minutes to review the attached flyer together. Understanding the rules before you ride can help prevent citations, accidents, and other serious consequences.

✅ Know what you’re riding.
✅ Follow Texas traffic laws.
✅ Wear the proper safety equipment.
✅ Ride responsibly and watch for pedestrians and vehicles.
✅ When in doubt, ask before you ride!

As we begin the 2026–2027 school year, let’s all do our part to make the trip to and from school as safe as possible.

Sherman ISD returns to class tomorrow, and school zones will be active across the city.

As students return to the classroom, please slow down, stay alert, and watch for increased traffic around schools.

Remember, cell phone use is prohibited in active school zones.

A few extra seconds of caution can make a big difference for the safety or our students, parents, and school staff.

🚦 Know Before You Go: Updated Traffic Pattern at Sherman High School

Whether you're a student driver or dropping off your Bearcat, please review the updated traffic plan before the first day of school. Some entrances, exits and turning movements have changed to create a safer, more organized arrival and dismissal process. A few minutes of preparation now will help keep traffic moving and students safe all year long.

ATTENTION 🚨 Important back-to-school update! 🚗 SHS is updating arrival and dismissal procedures to enhance safety for our students, staff and families while keeping emergency access clear. 🚑🚒🚓
🚘 New traffic patterns, including one-way lanes, designated entrances/exits and turn restrictions 🚫, will be in place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, when school is in session.
