Work on the new stadium at Sherman High School will begin sooner than previously planned! The district’s growth has increased our bonding capacity, giving SISD the ability to accelerate the timeline by approximately three years without increasing the tax rate. Construction will now coincide with classroom additions on the main school building.

State law requires all School District Propositions to say "This is a property tax increase" on the ballot. However, Sherman ISD can fund the entire bond proposal using the existing tax rate which is the only part of your local taxes SISD controls.

Beat the lines and go vote YES to proposition A and proposition B with ZERO percent tax rate increase!!

***SISD BOND INFO***
One thing that I think is important to remember is that due to all the High Tech manufacturing growth coming to Sherman, we can fund this bond with NO TAX RATE INCREASE. That means that we can get all this without having to pay any more in taxes than you would already have to pay next year.
Some people are quick to point out that due to increased appraisal values, your taxes will go up. But the increase in appraisal value will happen whether the bonds pass or not. Sherman ISD doesn't have any control over appraisal values.
It seems to me that if we can get all of this with out having to pay any extra, why wouldn't we.

The Sherman ISD Board of Trustees unanimously voted at a special meeting on April 13 to name Dr. Tyson Bennett as the lone finalist for the next superintendent of the school district, promoting a long-time Sherman ISD parent and lifetime resident of Grayson County to the district’s top leadership position.

“I believe Dr. Bennett has the leadership qualities and professional experience needed to lead Sherman ISD to the highest levels of excellence,” said Hillary Clark, president of the SISD Board of Trustees. “He has a broad base of experience and is innovative in his thinking. He has played an integral role in our successes and achievements over the course of his 16-year tenure with the district. His dedication to fostering a culture of academic, artistic and athletic excellence is unparalleled, and his expertise in leading our district as an assistant superintendent in the areas of instruction and finance make him a well-rounded and extremely qualified candidate. It is with utmost confidence that the Sherman ISD Board of Trustees has selected Dr. Bennett to become the next instructional leader in Sherman ISD.”

Dr. Bennett said that serving as superintendent of Sherman ISD will be the highlight of his career.

“Sherman ISD is where I chose to raise my family and my roots run deep in this community,” he said. “We have come a long way during my time in the district, and I believe we are on the right path to continue to promote excellence as we move into the future. I am excited to take an even bigger role in guiding our district to be the best it can be.”
