Our local LFL stewards were bummed out to find the library damaged again today. The springs on one of the doors are broken and the welding that keeps the door from opening too far has been pulled from the door (perhaps the door was used as a seat???) We are trying to figure out how we will repair this. In the meantime, we've moved all the books to the unaffected side and taped the broken door closed.

There is always a positive side though, isn't there? We're happy to report that, while the girls have filled the library a handful of times this summer, it has been largely stocked by other patrons!! Thanks community, for your continued support of our girls, their library, and their mission to increase book accessibility to kids!! 😊 📚 ❤️

💔We are disappointed to report that today our LFL endured another act of vandalism. Since the inside of the library is still dry, we know this happened after the rain stopped today. If you were at the park and saw anything, please contact the Sherman Police Department on their non-emergency line at 217-496-3256.

Thanks to generous donations from our community, and the money raised last summer by our young stewards, we were able to refill the functional side of library tonight with almost 50 quality books. We love serving our community in this way, and will try to get the broken plexiglass replaced as soon as possible so both sides of the library can be functioning and full. ☺️

Today we are placing a donation from Karen Rees Kerber a Sherman resident in memory of Rosemary Singh of Manitowoc, Wisconsin.

Karen reached out to us wanting to do something special to remember Rosemary. Karen wrote us saying that “Rosemary worked in various libraries at the University of Illinois and in Manitowoc, WI.”

Rosemary is survived by her husband a retired U of I professor and has been given the details of the girls work on this free little library.

Today we pulled some of the books that have been in the library for a while, and replaced them with some of the AWESOME donations we have received! We can’t be more proud of our community... the books that have been donated are top knotch! Swing by the Little Free Library while you’re out enjoying the beautiful weather this week!

The Little Free Library is restocked with great new titles, thanks to another generous book donation!!

Our Little Free Library stewards have placed over 300 books in the library in just a few weeks, and that doesn’t include the many books that have been left by our visitors! The girls are so excited with how many children are using this library!!!

If you have books you’d like to donate to the cause, send Pamela Clapp or Becca Kellenberger a message. We would be happy to come pick up your donation or receive it on either of our porches! :)

These dedicated library stewards came out earlier this evening to refill the library and found that it had been vandalized. We had prepared them for the possibility that this could happen, but they were disheartened to find it on the Library’s 4th day of operation.

The other half of the Little Free Library continues to be in working order and is well stocked. These sweet 10 year olds look forward to continuing to serve our community through this service, and are committed to repairing the damage and getting the other half back up and running. ❤️

Hello, community!!

In addition to library books, our scouts decided to put a Geocache inside their Little Free Library for people to search for & sign the log. The cool thing is, it looks just like a book, but is hollow, and holds a log, an instruction sheet, and some trinkets for people who geocache to trade with (see sample below, ours is similar, but wasn’t this exact one). The unfortunate thing, is they girls just put it in the library about 30 minutes ago, prior to their troop beginning working on their Geocaching badge at the park, and it, with all of the geocaching contents, has been removed.

If you or your child accidentally took the geocache, would you please kindly return it? We will permanently secure it to the box so that this doesn’t accidentally happen again!

I am so sorry for the misunderstanding. We didn’t think it would be mistaken for a book so quickly, and wanted to get it in there for the girls’ event tonight!
