2-1-1 represents one of the most efficient and impactful investments in community infrastructure available to Texas. It serves as the front door to health and human services, helping residents access the right resources at the right time while reducing duplication, improving service coordination, and strengthening outcomes across entire communities. More importantly, it ensures that every Texan, regardless of income, location, or circumstance, has a place to turn when help is needed most.

The value of 2-1-1 extends far beyond information and referral; it is a critical component of community resilience, public health, and human dignity.

Did you know that a recent AmeriCorps ROI study found that for every $1 invested, AmeriCorps Seniors program return up to $3.50 in community value, including health benefits, increased independence for seniors, and reduced reliance on social services?

From mentoring children and supporting educational success to assisting local nonprofits, food banks, veterans, and disaster response efforts, AmeriCorps Seniors volunteers provide invaluable service where it is needed most. In return, volunteers gain a renewed sense of purpose, stronger community connections, and improved well-being.

TCOG is proud to connect the experience, compassion, and talents of older adults with meaningful opportunities to strengthen our communities. Through our AmeriCorps Seniors Foster Grandparent Program (FGP) and Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), adults age 55 and older are proving that experience and service can transform lives and build stronger, more resilient communities throughout Texoma.
