🌟 Today’s Spotlight: Northwest Connecticut Land Conservancy
Northwest Connecticut Land Conservancy is a nonprofit, regional conservation organization working with the communities of Litchfield and northern Fairfield Counties to safeguard natural and working lands, public recreation areas, and drinking water resources—forever.

Founded in 1965, NCLC is the largest land trust in Connecticut, currently protecting more than 14,200 acres and continuing to grow. Through decades of conservation work and strategic partnerships, they help ensure that the region’s most valuable landscapes remain protected for future generations.

Their conserved lands include 31 public hiking preserves, 49 working farms, 57 miles of rivers and streams, and more than 3,000 acres of habitat for rare and endangered species—supporting both ecological health and public enjoyment of the outdoors.

To strengthen long-term conservation efforts across the region, NCLC has also expanded through key mergers with Brookfield Open Space Legacy (2019), Naromi Land Trust (2020), and Candlewood Valley Regional Land Trust (2025), helping to unify and amplify land protection efforts.

💡 At the Expo, they’ll be sharing more about their mission to protect land, water, and wildlife—and how the community can explore and support local conservation efforts as well as have a fun game!
