Heading Home for the Holidays!

Plan Ahead – Make sure your vehicle is in good shape. You or a mechanic should check tire pressure, fluid levels, and safety kit (flashlight, blanket, jumper cables, etc). Let someone know when you plan to leave and arrive as well as your travel route. Start with a fully charged cell phone and have extra charger cords.

Stay Alert – Be fresh and well-rested. Take breaks to avoid drowsy driving.

Mind Your Speed – No one wants to spend Christmas money on tickets or in jail.

Drive Defensively – Give yourself time and distance to react to traffic around you. Be aware of the increased holiday traffic and road conditions.

Don’t Drive Impaired – Using a designated driver when you have a couple of holiday refreshments is always the safest choice. Don’t operate a vehicle if you are unsure how prescription or over the counter medication might affect you.

Avoid Distractions – Don’t read or respond to text messages while you are driving. Get your music set up before you start your journey. Use caution if you eat while driving.
