What a GREAT first week at Sherrills Ford Elementary! 💛🖤

Our halls and classrooms are once again filled with our Sherrills Ford Tigers, and we couldn’t be happier! This week was full of excitement, joy, anticipation, learning, and new beginnings. We reviewed expectations, held behavior meetings, built relationships, and jumped right into an amazing new school year!

It was so good to have our Tigers back! 🐯 We are looking forward to an incredible year filled with PRIDE, growth, and learning!

Hello! My name is Denyse Eguigure. I am an elementary school teacher with more than seven years of experience.

Teaching is my passion, and I love creating engaging and meaningful learning experiences for children.

I enjoy arts and crafts, sports, and music, which help me bring creativity and energy into my classroom. I am very happy and honored to be part of the team at Sherrills Ford Elementary School.

I am excited to share my knowledge, culture, and experiences with my students and colleagues while also learning from them. I know this opportunity will be a wonderful professional and personal experience, and I cannot wait to begin this exciting chapter.

Hi! My name is Olivia Phillips, and I am so excited to join the kindergarten team at SFES. This will be my 10th year of teaching. I have a bachelors in Elementary Education from Gardner Webb University, as well as a Masters in Reading Education from UNC Charlotte. One of my favorite teaching strategies from my studies is play-based learning.

My husband, David, and I have a few sweet rescue dogs! We both love our local community and are proud to be a part of it. I can’t wait to meet my students, connect with families, and be part of the incredible Team SFES!

Hi, everyone! I’m excited to be joining Sherrills Ford Elementary School as a sixth-grade reading and social studies teacher this year. I’ve been teaching since 1998 and have a K-6 master’s degree in elementary education as well as a K-12 reading specialist certification. I have experience with every elementary grade from kindergarten through fourth, and I’m thrilled to now be working with sixth graders.

My husband and I are celebrating our 29th anniversary this August, and we have two wonderful children — our son, Jack, is starting law school at The University of Kentucky this fall, and our daughter, Campbell, is a pre-med senior at Chapel Hill studying neuroscience.

Reading is one of my greatest passions and I can’t wait to share that love with my students while being part of the wonderful community at SFES.

Hello! My name is Lauren Svoboda, and I am excited to join the 4th-grade team this year! I graduated from Appalachian State and have been teaching for 11 years, including five years in 4th grade. Teaching is a true passion of mine, and I love creating engaging, hands-on lessons for my students.

I have two daughters, Lilly and Molly, who will also be attending SFES.

As a local parent and a community member, I have admired the unique and exciting opportunities Sherrills Ford Elementary School offers. I am absolutely thrilled to join Team SFES.
