Congratulations to the Cato Volunteer Fire Department on receiving a rural community grant from the Arkansas Economic Development Commission! This grant will go toward helping with the construction of their new fire station, which is badly needed and will be a tremendous asset to the citizens who live in that area. I appreciate State Senator Missy Irvin, Justice of the Peace Sam Strain, and every one else who joined me in submitting letters of support for this grant.

I hope each and every one of you has a glorious 4th of July celebration. Today we are on the eve of the 250th Anniversary of this great country—a country where, despite our differences and challenges, each of us experiences more freedom and opportunity than so many millions around the world. Thank you to our founders, our war fighters, our police and fire fighters, our ancestors, and all the people who work tirelessly to keep the United States of America that shining city on the hill and the beacon that inspires people around the globe.

As we enjoy time with family and friends tomorrow, let us remember and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Memorial Day is more than a long weekend. It is a solemn reminder that freedom comes at a tremendous cost.

Having been a military child, I understand firsthand the sacrifices military families make in service to this nation. This weekend, we pause to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice and to pray for the families who carry that loss every day.

May we never take their courage, service, and sacrifice for granted. God bless Arkansas and God bless the USA 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Arkansas is leading the way when it comes to addressing the needs of our military students, including those who have a parent(s) on active duty or who are in the Guard or Reserve. April 15 is Purple Up Day—let’s all wear purple to show these students we support them and appreciate their sacrifice also. Not only do our military students change schools frequently, but oftentimes they have a parent who is deployed, which brings it’s on special challenges for these young people.
