Shickley FFA always starts summer by helping out at Ag Safety Day in Geneva. Yesterday 10 FFA members helped out by either presenting to the groups or being group leaders. They all had a great day and the kids enjoyed the day as well.

Shickley FFA will host its annual Tree Mulching on May 18 after school. The FFA is desperate need of help with this project. We need both people to help and equipment. We are looking for someone with a skid steer, 3 side x sides, rakes, shovels and people to help put the mulch out. For the first time in a few years, Shickley FFA will be offering a limited number of plants for sale. We have a variety of succulents and a few flowering plants available. They are each $5. Shickley FFA has had a busy first two days of State FFA Convention. It kicked off bright and early Wednesday morning with the Conduct of Chapter Meeting team competing. Then Hailey and Lakota each gave their individual speeches. All of them did a great job and we will know tomorrow how they did. The Farm Business and Management team also competed yesterday afternoon. We then got to celebrate our 5 seniors receiving their State FFA Degrees. This degree is earned with a combination of their SAE program, FFA involvement and community service. This the highest degeee that a student can be awarded at the state level. Thursday started with the Meats team competing at East Campus. We will find out results later this week. Great job everyone!

During National FFA Week, Farmers Cooperative ran their Fueling Our Future promotion that donated 5 cents from every gallon of fuel that was purchased from their fueling locations to the FFA Chapters in their territory. This resulted in a total of $8000 being donated to area FFA chapters. Shickley FFA received our check today. Thank You for this donation and thank you to ever who supported our FFA chapters and fueled up at one of their locations.

It has been a busy week for Shickley FFA. Tuesday, 24 members headed to CCC to compete in the District 6 Spring CDE Contest. We had a good day and qualified 2 teams for State Convention. Due to Boys Basketball, Drive Your Tractor to School day was moved to today. The students had a great day to bring their tractors. We also heard back on State Proficiency Results. Congrats to all of our members for their hard work! Now it is on to State FFA Convention in 2 1/2 weeks.

Don’t forget tomorrow is the start of National FFA Week. Wear your favorite team Jersey!

It has been a busy week for Shickley FFA that was capped off with attending the Thayer County Feeders Banquet tonight. Thanks to Bear Creek Trenching and Welding for sponsoring our table and inviting us. We had 5 young members represent us well and enjoy the food, speakers, and entertainment.

Congratulations to our 5 Seniors who interviewed for their State FFA Degrees yesterday. They all did great and will be receiving their degrees State FFA Convention. In addition, Shickley FFA took 7 Proficiency Applications over to be reviewed. Of those 7, 5 will be going on to the State Review in a week to be considered for a Top Finalist. Congratulations to all our members.
