As the school year comes to a close, we are proud to present our 2026 mural: Strong Roots Grow Great Possibilities.

Spanning the stairwell from the first floor to the third floor, the mural begins beneath the soil with roots and microinvertebrates, then journeys upward through seeds, growth, and blooming flowers. The design was inspired by the artwork of Mary Blair, Charley Harper, and Eric Carle. This project is a celebration of growth, curiosity, creativity, and the endless possibilities that begin with strong roots.

A special thank you to muralist Michael Miller for his direction, expertise, and guidance throughout this project.

Additionally, thank you to the Governor Mifflin Education Foundation, Mifflin Park PTO, and Berks Community Foundation for funding this project!

The halls may have been quiet today, but on Friday they were ringing with the sounds of celebration as we saw our fourth graders off on the next step of their educational journey! In this special ceremony, we got to give out some amazing awards, recognize the achievements of both our students and their collective classes, join in a song, and (of course) participate in the customary cap toss!

Congrats, fourth grade! We're going to miss you, but just remember... you're only a few steps away from your Mifflin Park family! 🥹

Rain couldn’t dampen the smiles at Mifflin Park’s Ultimate Play Day! Students rotated throughout eight stations and played their hearts out at each and every one. Huge props to Mr. G, our gym teacher, who turned on a dime once the weather forecast went south and for all of the parent volunteers who came to help keep the stations running!

Mifflin Park's 4th grade Safety Patrol had their end of year trip as VIPs at GMIS! MP Safety Patrol alumni were kind enough to give these incoming students a backstage tour of many amazing things at their future school. The Cumru Police Department also came to visit us. Students got to spend some time with Oliver from the K9 unit, and they had a tour of a police car. Last, they had a Patrol/5th grade kickball game! Thank you to these amazing 4th graders for donating your time and energy to make Mifflin Park a better place this year and for exemplifying responsibility, respect, and safety. Thank you also to 5th grade for being amazing hosts!

Mr. Katzenmoyer's class had an extra yummy experience yesterday, thanks to our Mifflin Park Elementary Food Service Staff! 🍕

At our Spring Open House, our Mifflin Park PTO raffled off a pizza making session with our food service staff, and Liam N. from Mr. Katzenmoyer's class was the lucky winner! He and his classmates got the opportunity to build personal flatbread pizzas, which were then baked and served to them for lunch. The kids loved the opportunity to practice their culinary skills and our staff loved being able to connect with the kids!

Thanks to our food service staff, including Mrs. Christy Facey, Kitchen Manager, for making this experience possible, and to Mifflin Park PTO for their support of our students!

The cold never bothered this cast, anyway! ❄️ Mifflin Park's 4th graders have been hard at work all spring on their performance of Disney's Frozen Kids and, yesterday, finally had the chance to perform for their classmates and families! Great job, kids-- we've got to say, it was one of the "coolest" performances we've ever seen! 🌬️

Mifflin Park first graders had a troutstanding hands-on learning experience this week as they celebrated Trout Appreciation Day. Students from GMIS and GMMS helped first graders cycle through stations that including exploring the trout habitat, studying our local stream, and trying their hand at fly fishing. The day was trout of this world!

Student artwork filled the halls during this week’s Art Show in a rainbow of color, paint, yarn, paper, and clay. 👀👀 at all that talent!!

Mifflin Park second graders had some fabulous mystery readers visit this week - members of the Governor Mifflin Middle School Unified Team! The middle school students came to share a book called Mikayla’s Story with our second graders. After the read aloud, second grade did activities that focused on accepting others and including all.

The book Mikayla’s Story is now available in our library so all students can experience this message of acceptance, understanding, and friendship!

🧩 Friday capped off a week of celebrating Autism Acceptance Month at Mifflin Park! Students signed a pledge to be kind and posed under an amazing balloon arch. 🧩
