On the recommendation of the Southampton Township Emergency Management Manager Larry Hinkle, Shippensburg Emergency Manager David Lindenmuth, and the Shippensburg Fire Department. The Southampton Township Cumberland County Supervisors, as of today, April 13, 2026, has instituted a regional burn advisory due to the extended dry conditions and accompanying risk of fire. The burn advisory will be in effect until further notice. During the advisory, residents are asked to use caution when burning, do not burn on windy days and never leave a fire burning untended. Residents with questions should contact Southampton Township. At (717) 532-9646 (Outdoor cooking on a grill or other covered device is acceptable.)

Seeking Volunteers: Township Planning Commission
Southampton Township is pleased to announce that it is considering the establishment of a five-member Planning Commission. The Township Board of Supervisors is currently seeking motivated, civic-minded residents to fill these five inaugural positions.
This is a unique opportunity to help shape the future of our community. The Planning Commission will play a vital role in reviewing land development plans, advising on zoning ordinances, and assisting in the long-term vision for the Township’s growth and preservation.

Notice of Postponement of Public Hearing
for Zoning Amendment

The Southampton Township Board of Supervisors is postponing the public hearing (ZA #25002) scheduled Tuesday, February 3rd, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at the Southampton Township Community Center 56 Cleversburg Road, Shippensburg, PA. The property owners William and Cheryl Collingsworth at 54 Airport Road Shippensburg Pa. 17257, have requested an extension of the public hearing scheduled for Tuesday, February 3rd, 2026, to afford the Supervisors the opportunity to examine the overlay for the data centers. The Township Supervisors approved the extension request. The hearing will be scheduled at a later date.

The Cumberland County dog licensing event has been canceled due to the weather. The county is working to reschedule, and we will inform you of the date/time of rescheduling when available.

Due to overwhelming public interest in the forum, the Cumberland County Planning committee and its partners have decided to postpone the event because of limited space.
Once a new date has been established, they will notify everyone who registered and share the information on the Cumberland County website and social media platforms.
