NAVAJO NATION RECOGNIZES NATIVE AMERICAN HERITAGE MONTH 11.01.21
Today, President Jonathan Nez and Vice President Myron Lizer recognize the month of November 2021 as Native American Heritage Month to honor the hope, future, and resilience of Indigenous people, including Navajo people, and to celebrate Native cultures, languages, and indigeneity.
“The month is a time to cherish and celebrate our rich and diverse cultures, traditions, languages, and legacies. This month, take the time to share and embrace your identity and history with your children, friends, neighbors, and the general public. Our cultures and traditions are very much alive every day, and with continued strength and resilience, our children and grandchildren will carry our teachings into the future,” said President Nez.
“We commend all the states, cities, towns, counties, community groups, churches, universities, schools, and other organizations that are observing Native American Heritage Month to honor our rich history, culture, and languages. It is also a time to raise awareness about the unique challenges Native people face. Our stories, kinship, and languages are precious and sacred, and it makes us who we are today,” said Vice President Lizer.
