Keep track of the area roads as rising water can quickly over top a perviously passable section.

If you come across road cover roads do not attempt to cross! Just a few inches is enough to sweep a vehicle away.

Remember: turn around don't drown!!

With the potential for dangerous and potentially deadly heat over the next few days, people are reminded that they should limit exposure outside, stay hydrated, check on friends/family/neighbors- especially older folks or those with medical conditions. Don't forget about pets and livestock too.

If you suspect you or someone is having a heat related medical emergency, get them to someplace cooler if you can and call 911 immediately.

A series of hot and humid days are ahead of us. Heat advisories begin at 1pm across the St. Lawrence Valley and eastern Champlain Valley with heat indices near 95 today and tomorrow. Several locations are likely to reach 3 consecutive days of 90 F and meet our heat wave criteria.

With power still out in parts of town, be sure to check on your neighbors... Especially those with younger children, health conditions, or older folks.

If you need some place to warm up, the library, town office, and service center are open and have heat and electricity.

Road conditions are expected to be dangerous and there will most likely be wide spread power outages. Be cautious if you have to travel. Never approach downed power lines. Take precautions to avoid carbon monoxide poisoning when using alternative heating sources and emergency generators.

Heads up! We're expecting a messy mix of precipitation tonight and Friday. Ice accumulations of a tenth to a third of an inch are expected, along with 1 to 3 inches of snow. This could create hazardous travel, along with isolated power outages.

SCHOOLS ACROSS VERMONT RECEIVE APPARENT HOAX THREAT CALLS
Agency of Education, Vermont State Police, local law enforcement assist in response

MONTPELIER, Vermont (Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2023) — Multiple law enforcement agencies across Vermont are receiving calls reporting shootings at local schools. At this time, none of these threats is believed to be credible, and the incidents appear to be hoaxes.

The calls have been reported to originate from VOIP phone numbers or potentially spoofed 802 numbers and appear to be associated with ongoing nationwide hoax phone threats of school shootings, bomb threats, and other violent events that have proved to be unfounded.

The Governor’s Office, Agency of Education, Department of Public Safety, Vermont State Police, Vermont Intelligence Center and local law-enforcement agencies are actively engaged in the response to these calls.

Further information will be available at a news conference expected to be held later today at the Governor’s Ceremonial Office at the Statehouse in Montpelier. Details of the news conference will be released as soon as they are available.
