đźš’ First Shift, First Fire! đźš’

What started as a routine first shift for probationary firefighter Northagen, turned into a working fire this morning in the 17100 block of 15th Ave NE. Firefighters arrived to find smoke coming from a vacant former nursing home and moved quickly to bring the fire under control.

The cause was determined to be an electrical fire in the panel room. Thankfully, there were no injuries.

Strong work by all crews on an early morning response and a great reminder that every shift can bring the unexpected. 👨‍🚒🔥

đźš’ Fire Post đźš’

At 3:45 this morning, Shoreline Fire was dispatched to a fire alarm in the 17100 block of 15th Ave NE. Crews arrived to find no smoke or fire initially. Upon investigation, fire and smoke were found in an adjacent property on the west side of the building. It was then upgraded to a working fire in a vacant former nursing home facility.

Firefighters brought the fire under control and completed an extensive search of the building. Following the investigation, the cause was determined to be an electrical fire originating in the panel room.

There were no injuries reported.

Thank you to our responding crews and partner agencies for their quick work and coordination.

🚒 Retirement Announcement – Tim Tyler 🚒

After more than 29 years of dedicated service, we honor and congratulate Tim Tyler on his retirement from the fire service.

Tim’s journey started in a way only he could describe—stepping into a line, not realizing at the time it would lead to a lifelong career of purpose, brotherhood, and impact. From that moment on, he built a legacy defined by service, humility, and heart.

Over nearly three decades, Tim has been more than a firefighter and paramedic—he’s been a mentor, a steady presence, a trusted partner, and family to those he served alongside. He’s experienced the full spectrum of this job:
the adrenaline of advancing a hose line into a fire,
the responsibility of driving the rig through traffic with lights and sirens,
and the quiet, meaningful moments—coffee at the table, conversations after tough calls, and shared meals at the station.

What stands out most is the difference Tim made in people’s lives on their worst days—and the way he showed up for his crew every single shift.

Tim leaves this career on his own terms—still loving the job, still giving his best, and choosing to step away with gratitude rather than burnout. That decision reflects the same wisdom and perspective he carried throughout his career.

As he begins this next chapter, Tim is focused on what matters most:
being a husband, being a dad, and embracing the time that so many in this profession sacrifice. There will be travel, new adventures, and continued service through volunteer work—but most importantly, time well spent with family.

Tim, thank you for your service, your leadership, and the legacy you leave behind.

Enjoy retirement—you’ve earned it.

And knowing you… we’re confident you’ll find that next line to get in.

🚨 Motor Vehicle Collision Response 🚨

At 10 PM last night, our crews were dispatched to the 100 block of NW 205th St. It was a motor vehicle collision involving a car with one occupant. Upon arrival, the vehicle was on its side and fully involved in flames, with bystanders attempting to assist.

Our firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and worked to extricate the patient from the vehicle. Medics provided care on scene before transporting the patient to Harborview Medical Center.

We want to thank the bystanders for their efforts to help.
