Pack the Park was the call. And the park was packed! 🦸🏽πŸ’₯

Superheroes in the fight against food insecurity walked, ran, and strolled through the annual 5K to raise money for Lake Forest Park Farmers Market Bucks and the Shoreline School District Angel Fund.

Thanks to the event, plus an additional contribution from race organizer Kind + Co Events, $2,300 was raised for the Angel Fund, which helps pay negative meal balances for students in need.

πŸƒπŸΌ Spotted at the event were Superintendent Susana Reyes, School Board Director Sara Betnel, Food & Nutrition Services Director Jessica Jandayan, Lake Forest Park Elementary Principal Aimee Miner, and Lake Forest Park Police Chief Mike Harden!

Thank you to all of the local superheroes who showed up to support our community. ❀️

Why does this matter? This year, Shoreline School District’s student meal debt has climbed to more than $29,000 β€” the highest it’s ever been. Many families earn too much to qualify for meal assistance, but still struggle to afford the rising cost of food and living expenses. Shoreline does not allow students to go hungry, so unpaid meal balances quickly add up.

Fundraisers like this help ensure students can continue receiving meals at school while easing financial pressure on families and the district.

This week’s student is Einstein Middle School 8th grader Felix Schaber!

Einstein's building leaders share that Felix brings dedication, leadership and creativity to everything he does!

Felix is involved in football, wrestling, track, jazz band, and symphonic band, where he plays percussion. In track, he competes in shot put and discus and is headed to prelims with hopes of qualifying for championships in shot put. He’s also a ROOTS Scholar and says his favorite class is art, where he’s currently taking Painting and Drawing 2.

Outside of school, Felix wrestles year-round with Rhino Wrestling, plays drums, enjoys jamming with friends, and is even interested in forming a band.

Known as a quiet leader, Felix is respected by students and staff alike for always working hard and doing his best, whether in the classroom, on the field, on the mat, or in the band room.

Looking ahead, Felix hopes to continue playing music, earn a college wrestling scholarship and compete in football, wrestling, and track at Shorewood High School.

Felix, your hard work, quiet leadership, creativity, and determination are making a lasting impact at Einstein. We can’t wait to see all the amazing things ahead for you on the field, on the stage and beyond! πŸ‘βœ¨

Mark your calendar for Middle School STEM Night!

On Friday, May 29, 6-8:00 pm at Kellogg Middle School (16045 25th Ave. NE).

Middle school students and families can attend this 3rd annual event, where they will see STEM as something exciting, tangible, and connected to real people, real pathways, and real-world opportunities.

This year, the event will highlight not only community exhibitors and STEM professionals, but also our own Shoreline School District Technology Student Association (TSA) teams. Students will have the chance to meet TSA students from their own schools, see what they have been working on, and learn how they can get involved.

Sponsored by Shoreline PTA Council, Kellogg Middle School PTSA, and Einstein Middle School PTSA.
