🔥 Don’t Let the Fun End in a Fire 🔥
Grilling season and backyard bonfires are in full swing, but one of the most common fire hazards this time of year is improperly discarded ashes and hot coals.
Those coals may look out, but they can stay hot enough to start a fire for hours — sometimes even days after the flames are gone.
âś… Play it safe:
• Let coals cool completely whenever possible
• Place ashes/coals in a metal container with a tight-fitting lid
• Keep the container outside and away from your home, deck, garage, or anything combustible
• Never dump ashes into plastic garbage cans, cardboard boxes, mulch, or landscaping
• If needed, carefully wet them down and stir to ensure everything is extinguished
A great night around the grill or fire pit shouldn’t end with flashing lights in the driveway. Enjoy the season safely; take a extra few minutes to dispose of ashes and coals properly and help keep your home — and your neighbors — protected. 🚒
