It's not too late to register to vote in the November presidential election! Got questions about how to register and/or vote? We can answer them!

Tuesday, September 22, 2020 is National Voter Registration Day. National Voter Registration Day is a nonpartisan, civic holiday celebrating our democracy. The Village of Shorewood Clerk encourages people to exercise their right to vote.

Need to register to vote? You may register on-line at www.myvote.wi.gov (proof of residency required) or by completing the Voter Registration Form (https://elections.wi.gov/sites/elections.wi.gov/files/2020-06/El-131%20Voter%20Registration%20App_Fillable-%20%28REV%202020-06%29_0.pdf) and submitting it along with a valid proof of residency. Qualifications: You must be a United States citizen, 18 years old on or before Election Day, not currently serving a sentence including incarceration, parole, probation or extended supervision for a felony conviction and have resided at the address you provide on your Registration Form for at least 28 consecutive days prior to an election.

The deadline to register on-line or by mail for the November 3, 2020 Election is Wednesday, October 14, 2020. After October 14, you will need to:

▪ Register in person, by appointment in the Clerk & Customer Service Department, Village Hall, 3930 N Murray Avenue. Hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., except weekends

▪ Register in person during in-person absentee voting hours which are: Village Center (lower level of library) Monday – Friday, October 20 – October 30, 2020, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with the exception of Friday, October 30, 2020 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

▪ Register at your polling location on Election Day, November 3, 2020

Each month, we capture some data to quantify what and how we're doing and compare it to previous years.

August's data revealed something cool. Compared to August 2019 fewer people are visiting (thanks for staying home and staying safe!) and those who do come are checking out just as much stuff!

The Shorewood Care Network is a local grassroots effort, connecting people in need to what they need.

Right now that need is for gift cards to places like Metro Market and Walgreens. The Shorewood Senior Resource Center is acting as a drop-off point for gift cards, which they will give to the Shorewood Care Network to distribute.

If you are a Shorewood resident in need, contact the Shorewood Care Network at [email protected]

This week on The Shorewood Stacks Lisa and I discuss our favorite picture books from our youth, and how they impacted us. This is a good one for those of you with little ones, and for those who just like cute stories.
I wonder whether the library fixed its window so birds can't bump into them. Last time I found dozens of dead birds next to the entrance of this library. So Sad. Just found a video about this tragedy. https://www.facebook.com/bbcearth/videos/3868025666605658/
