Police efforts to reduce deadly crashes on Highway 7 from St. Louis Park to St. Bonifacius are showing promising results, with stepped-up enforcement using AI technology credited with helping eliminate deaths on the road in 2025.

After a deadly year on Highway 7, our communities demanded change, and change happened.

In 2024, five lives were lost along the Hwy 7 corridor. In response, seven law enforcement agencies formed the Highway 7 Safety Coalition, launching a coordinated effort in 2025 focused on enforcement, education and technology.

The results:
✔️ Zero fatal crashes in 2025
✔️ Serious injury crashes cut in half

This work doesn’t stop here. Enforcement and education alone can’t solve Highway 7’s safety challenges long-term. We’re now working with city leaders, engineers, EMS, public health, and state partners to review serious crashes and push for roadway design improvements that save lives.
