On behalf of Mayor Powell and the Council Members of the Town of Shorter, we would like everyone to join us in celebrating the legacy of Dr. Charles Smith Sr. and the Lean, Mean, Green Machine, also known as the D.C. Wolfe Marching Bandits. In 1976, the Marching Bandits won the Alabama and South Alabama Bicentennial Band Competition in Prattville, Alabama.
Dr. Smith and the Marching Bandits were honored by former Governor of Alabama George Wallace with a proclamation and a citation of honor as an honorary Lt. Colonel Aide de Camp in the Alabama State Militia, one of the State of Alabama's highest civilian honors. They also earned the honor of representing the State of Alabama in the National Bicentennial Parade in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dr. Smith and the Deborah Cannon Wolfe Marching Bandits symbolize the resilience and excellence of our beautiful community.๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿค๐Ÿ’›
